And the song challenge comes to an end.... Due to my delay in timing, this technically is for my favorite song two years ago.
The Good Life by Three Days Grace!! "All I want is a little of the good life..."
I'm going to make this one a double-shot seeing as I fell in love with Three Days Grace last year.... And now I give you the visually stunning video for the song:
I'm going waaaay old school with this one. My mom used to own a store (( Maynard, MA residents, remember Blue Horizons/Stacey's Treat Boutique???)) Well, this song reminds me of her store. As I stated in my very first blog post, my mom was a very big influence on me musically growing up. I think it's something so magical that a song can bring back an exact memory and bring you back to a moment from your past. Pretty special, huh?
Ok, sadly I am stumped with the following two challenges... Now I understand why these are challenges!
A Song That You Wish You Could Play - I have never played an instrument aside from the recorder in grade school (I only ever mastered Mary Had a Little Lamb)... Really this should also specify what instrument you wish you could play! I guess if I HAD to choose, I was slightly interested in playing the violin since I loved the sound of it but never pursued it. I'm good at listening to music, not playing it!
So, here is my choice for this one - the epic Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. Ambitious, I know!
A Song That Makes You Feel Guilty - Well frankly, I honestly can not think of anything that falls under this category. Officially stumped on this one!
Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant.... Don't know why, but it just does! Silly song I remember from growing up in the 80's. I challenge any of you to listen to this and not laugh! And you know all of you at one time checked to see if Electric Avenue is a real street!
Wow, little depressing to research this one... But I feel it's fitting to choose a song by my all-time favorite band.. a lesser known song but by all means beautiful and meaningful to the topic.... No One But You by Queen:
I Want Your Sex by George Michael >:) Ha ha!!! If this doesn't say I love you, I don't know what does.... (Just heard this on the radio running errands... couldn't resist! Gotta have fun with this).
Ok, here is my real pick - When I Look Into Your Eyes (acoustic) by Firehouse. Ahhh yes, a 90's hair metal band.... They are also known for their song Love of a Lifetime, which I thought would be my choice years ago (us girls think about these things!), but when I first heard this song, it just seemed to fit so much better. And for a wedding, the acoustic version fits perfectly.
Whether I'm already sad or brimming on feeling sad, this song definitely is the first one I think of that I want to hear... Amy Lee's haunting vocals and the tone of the music magnifies my feelings at that moment. Sometimes, you just need to revel in those feelings. And so I choose:
I've been lucky to have the pleasure of meeting this artist a few times now... He made his start on a national level back in 2006 on the reality show Rock Star: Supernova where the panel of judges were looking for a lead singer to front their new "supergroup" consisting of Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), Gilby Clarke (Guns 'n Roses) and Jason Newsted (Metallica).
Although Ryan didn't win the ultimate title, he was a fan favorite and has consistently risen to the top with hard work and truly one of (if not the best) vocals I have ever heard. He released two albums independently, and he also released his major label album entitled "11:59" in 2010.
As for the song challenge topic itself, this is the song that fits best. The uber-talented Ryan Star singing "Right Now"
Easiest pick yet!!! This one deserves a double shot... so here's song 1:
I F***ing Hate You by Godsmack:
And song #2:
Releasing the Demons by Godsmack!
Basically their entire Faceless album is my angry mood music - but these two songs top the list. Such intense driving beats and bass throughout both of these songs, I always feel drained and therapeutically satisfied after hearing this double-shot of music.
My ONLY complaint is that these songs don't have official videos to accompany them. Damn shame, because I could only imagine how epic they would be!
Broken Road by Sully Erna - solo album - Avalon..... This album is truly amazing, unlike what Sully normally does for Godsmack, an album very personal, spiritual and touching... I just can't give enough praise for how brilliant this album is.
Easy pick for this topic... Don't know if it's because I don't hear it on my heavy metal/hard rock station or if it just hasn't found the right place on radio, but Sully Erna of Godsmack has his solo album Avalon that is so ridiculously amazing.
Holmberg's Morning Sickness on 98 KUPD in Phoenix, AZis my exclusive radio station I love to listen to, so I will have to pick - Lies of the Beautiful People by Nikki Sixx's band Sixx A.M. I'mnot always a big fan of Nikki Sixx the person, but I give him big kudos for this song... A powerful message through lyric and song, and overall just a great tune to hear on the radio.
Used to love but now hate is the topic, but I can't even think of one.... so in honor of 98KUPD's U-Fest that I attended the day before I originally posted this on my Facebook, I shall deem a new topic as - Best Song Performance Of The Night of 98KUPD's U-Fest 2011.... Last Resort by Papa Roach:
Bounce by Timbaland featuring Dr Dre, Missy Elliot & Justin Timberlake.... "Come here, girls, come here girls, come here girls, Bounce.... Come here, girls, come here girls, come here girls, Bounce.... Bounce, Like your ass had the hiccups, Bounce... "
Frankly, I love the entire Shock Value album by Timbaland, but this one really stands out!
Talk about losing track of time..... I last posted about this 30 Day Song Challenge over a year ago! Well, I said I would do it, so I'm back to finish what I started. So,without further ado:
Crazy by Britney Spears. I can't help but laugh a bit, too (thinking of the SNL skit w/Chris Kattan auditioning with this song). Even the Metalhead that I am can enjoy a great dance beat and indulgent pop video dancing!
